On Thursday 10 March we, Cubs and Scouts made our preparations for Comic Relief by making tasty home-made cakes. Then on the night of the Comic Relief fun event we wore red and white clothing and some even dressed up as a paramedic and Superman!
We created a display with a huge all-red monster nose painted onto it. We also decorated it with tissue paper to give it texture. Everyone
(Cubs, Scouts & Beavers) enjoyed themselves as we played some great games including the Great Jelly Race, The Malteser race, The Giggler
and the Glow-Stick game.
We received a package containing all sorts of things to help us do something funny for money, e.g. stickers, leaflets to give us advice, posters and more. The posters we pinned up as a display. The posters were for us to draw on as part of our fundraising. We also received a smaller poster to play a game. Everyone wrote their name down once under the celebrity they thought would have the winning dance. At the end we scratched off the silver peel on the poster to reveal the winning celebrity dance and
Catherine Waters (a member of the Beavers) won a lovely box of Maltesers.
It was the next day after church parade we sold tons of cakes, fairy buns, gingerbread men and rice crispie squares to all of the church people. Thanks to the cake sale, sub money on the night of the event and a £50 donation from the church we raised a staggering £150 for Comic Relief and hopefully it will help the world and its problems.
Thank you to all those who donated to Comic Relief on behalf of Saint Hilda's Church

6th Denton Scout group at St Hilda's Church have done something funny for money. They were celebrating Comic Relief like any other school or club but they would definitely stand out from the crowd. They were making paintings and selling cakes like any other year but they like to really make a difference. From races to refreshments, no-one celebrates like
St Hilda's Scout group. For example, they have
* Malteser races
* Jelly races
* Glow in the dark tig
and also something more familiar to Comic Relief: the Giggler.
Besides the games, they made a massive painting of the
Red Nose Honkus and decorated cakes.
They earned altogether £150 - but how did they earn it?
Part of it came from the night and they had a £50 donation
from the church, but what else? They had a cake sale
after church parade which made the total up to £150.
After an exciting night and they all settled down it was time to
go home. Maybe next year would be even more successful.

Red Nose Day
March 2011
On Thursday 10 March, Cubs and Scouts prepared cakes and our noticeboards were full of Red Nose designs. It looked great! The cakes were sold out at the end of the Friday night (Red Nose Day night) and the other cakes were sold at church parade, which some of you might know, because you did buy some. Thank you if you did anyway. The activities were great. Some of the games were: a massive picture with a red nose on it and a paper chain race, boys v girls. The boys won by an inch, sad for us girls (however, they got more paper bits to put in it).
Altogether we raised £150 - £50 from church which was nice, but the rest ourselves. After all, it goes to a really good cause. It goes to people with disabilities, people who are homeless, people with illnesses and to Africa where people are suffering and sometimes even worse, dying. Everyone looked very good, we all dressed in red and white. When it came down to who was selling the cakes, it was me (Olivia), Alisha, Bethany, Joseph and Bradley. Altogether it was a great night. From all of us, thank you for the people that organised it. Thank you again.
Olivia
